Memphis in May 2001
“Memphis in May” is a blues festival held every year. Our trips were three days. We would leave Chicago Friday morning……stop for lunch in Paris, Tennessee……at Jacks Pool hall! Jack served a mean burger. Then meet the rest of the group in Memphis…and go have dinner at the Blues City café. After dinner….we would cross the street to BB Kings bar……great blues….then make our way down Beale Street and wind up at Silky’s….a piano bar.
Saturday we have breakfast then head to Graceland…..Elvis Presley’s home. We would have lunch at the Heart Break Hotel…then go to a strip club……take a nap….then repeat Friday night….Blues City Café, BB Kings and Silky’s.
Sunday morning head for home!! This was our routine on every Memphis trip…and I think we did ten over the years!!
